Description$20,000 Other RequirementsOne Scholarship, tenable for up to four years, will be granted annually to a student who has completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary education locally, i.e. at Bermuda College or one of the local high schools offering post secondary programmes or an accredited institution overseas. The Scholarship will be granted to a student demonstrating excellent academic skills, community involvement, leadership ability and financial need. Candidates will be not less than 17 years of age and not yet 25 by the first day of October in the year in which they are competing for the Bursaries. Must be Bermudian or possess Bermudian status. Must have been educated in Bermuda for at least five years. Acceptance to or enrolment in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college overseas. Must demonstrate acute/pressing financial need. The Scholarship will be granted on the basis of merit without regard to race, political affiliations or family circumstances. Recipients of the Scholarship may hold other awards from local sources granted on the basis of academic merit. Recipients must disclose details of any other awards accepted to the Scholarship Award Committee. The Scholarship Awards Committee must be satisfied that the aggregate value of such local awards when added to the Scholarship does not exceed (no more than $10,000) the Scholarship Awards Committee's estimate of the cost of tuition, materials and living expenses. The Scholarship Awards Committee reserves the right to withdraw the Scholarship at any time if the work or conduct of a recipient proves to be unsatisfactory. Recipients are required to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or a b average and are required to provide the Scholarship Awards Committee with a written progress report and official transcripts after each academic term. |
