Bank of Bermuda Foundation has supported many different charitable organisations over the years.  We are very proud to have been able to assist them.  We are very pleased to support further education to Bermudians and offer up to 21 scholarships and bursaries annually.

Description

In an effort to encourage more Bermudians to enter the technology industry and pursue

a degree in Information Technology, Bank of Bermuda Foundation will offer Information

Technology Scholarships to attend academic institutions of higher learning.

Up to two scholarships will be awarded each year with a total value of $48,000 each.

The successful applicants will pursue a degree in an information technology related

area.

 

Other Requirements

Application Guidelines and Conditions

1. The Bank of Bermuda Foundation Information Technology Scholarships

are granted annually. Their purpose is to provide financial support over a

period not exceeding four years to two students who are proceeding

with undergraduate information technology related studies on a full-time basis.

The Scholarships are tenable at institutions of higher education approved by

Bank of Bermuda Foundation.

2. At the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee, there will

be a maximum of two Scholarships granted each year, valued at

$48,000 per Scholarship. In the case of a Bermuda College student

the funds will be distributed according to the Bermuda College fee schedule,

however not more than $4,000 in the first year and $4,000 in the second year.

The balance will be disbursed equally over the remaining 2 years at an overseas college

or university. In the case of a student going to university overseas

for the first time or already in university the applicant will receive

$12,000 per year, for up to four years. These funds are to be used

to contribute to the costs of tuition, room and board at the place of

study and travel to and from the place of study.

3. The Scholarship awards will be made by the Scholarship Selection

Committee.

4. The Scholarship Selection Committee will pay special regard to

evidence of:

a) outstanding scholastic ability;

b) qualities of character, leadership, responsibility, community

involvement and dedication to achievement;

c) athletic, cultural and other non-academic pursuits;

d) financial need. 

5. To be eligible for a Bank of Bermuda Foundation Information

Technology Scholarship, the candidate must:

a) be Bermudian or hold Bermudian status;

b) have identified specific educational goals or professional career

objectives;

c) have demonstrated an interest in information technology

and an understanding of the career opportunities available in

Bermuda.

d) have a GPA of 3.0 (B) or better.

6. The Scholarship Selection Committee may decline to grant the

Scholarship should it decide, in its discretion, that there are no

suitable candidates.

7. The Scholarship Selection Committee reserves the right to

withdraw a Scholarship if a winner becomes involved in any activity

which, in its opinion, places the prestige of the Scholarship in

jeopardy.

8. Continued receipt of the Scholarship is dependent on the scholar

maintaining a G.P.A above 3.0.

9. The Scholarship winners shall keep the Scholarship Selection

Committee informed of his/her progress by timely submission of

grades or transcripts as issued and such other written reports as

may be requested from time to time. Failure to comply may lead to

suspension or forfeiture of the Scholarship.

10. Scholarship winners may accept other awards or scholarships

provided the total amount does not exceed the cost of education

for the academic year. Failure to comply may lead to suspension or

forfeiture of the Scholarship or Grant.
