Description
The BFIS Marsh Scholarship is open to students planning to pursue a career in the insurance industry who are entering the Junior or Senior year of their undergraduate degree at an accredited overseas university.
Benefits:
- Summer Employment for one vacation period.
Application Criteria:
- Preferred majors are Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Corporate Law and Computer Science. Other majors relevant to the insurance sector may also be considered.
- Students receiving the scholarship must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA or above.
- Tenure of other scholarships in conjunction with a BFIS scholarship is permitted with BFIS approval.
- Financial need will be taken into consideration.

Documents required
- Essay: In not less than 400 words, tell us why you have chosen to pursue a career in insurance and what area of insurance you think would interest you and why.
- Tuition Fees: Documentation from the university stating their tuition fees.
- Grades: Official copies of most recent educational transcripts.
- Academic letter of recommendation: from a current teacher who knows the applicant and his/her academic abilities.
- Personal Letter of recommendation: from someone who knows the applicant on a personal basis.
- Department of Immigration letter: confirming Bermudian or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) status.
- Financial Need Form: if the applicant wishes financial need to be taken into consideration.
Acceptance Criteria
- Scholarship recipients shall keep the Scholarship Committee informed of his/her progress by timely submission of grades or transcripts as issued at the end of each semester and such other written reports as may be requested from time to time.
- The Scholarship Committee must be notified ahead of time of any changes to the academic programme undertaken, or of any other occurrences/activities which materially alter the information presented in the scholarship application.
- Failure to comply may lead to suspension or forfeiture of the scholarship.
