Other Requirements

The following are the conditions under which a candidate is eligible to compete. The candidate must:

(a) be a Bermudian or a British Subject. The candidate, or either one of his/her parents (or guardians), must have been resident in Bermuda for at least five consecutive years immediately preceding 1st January of the year for which the Scholarship is to be awarded. Periods of absence for the purposes of education are disregarded. In the case of a British Subject who is not a Bermudian, he/she, or either one of his/her parents (or guardians), must also have been resident in Bermuda for a total of at least ten years. In the event that both of a candidate's parents (or guardians) are dead, the residency requirement must have been satisfied immediately prior to their death;

(b) have been educated in Bermuda for at least five years;

(c) have passed the nineteenth birthday, but not have passed the twenty-fifth birthday, on October 1st of the year for which the Scholarship is awarded;

(d) at the time of election, have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of a Bachelor's degree in a recognised university before October 1st of the year for which the Scholarship is awarded.
