    Description

    Purpose: To encourage and assist a student who is a citizen or permanent resident of Bermuda to study at McGill University in a degree program. The Trustees seek a scholar of all-round ability who is likely to make a balanced contribution to the community in the future.

    Qualifications: Applicants must have achieved a sufficient academic standing to permit admission to McGill University and to be able to sustain a grade point average of 3.3 each year.

    Benefit: The Scholarship will be renewable annually provided the holder maintains a minimum grade point average of 3.3 each year.

    Selection: The Selection Committee for the Scholarship will include a McGill graduate Trustee of the Trust, a representative of the local McGill Society in Bermuda and a representative appointed by McGill University. The Principal of McGill University is a member ex-officio of the Selection Committee. The Trustees in Bermuda have complete discretion in selecting candidates and will make the award subject to confirmation by the appropriate office at McGill University.

    Timing of Awards: Scholarships will be made available on an annual basis for competition for entry to McGill University in September of the relevant year. The Dudley and Deborah Butterfield Scholarship and the McGill Bermuda Scholarship will be offered in alternate years.
