Nicholl who was interested in the education of young Bermudians, and gave much of his time and talents to education in Bermuda, particularly at Dellwood School. Eligibility Criteria
DescriptionThe Nicholl Scholarships will be awarded every year by a Scholarship Committee to Bermudians who possess outstanding character and scholastic abilities. It will provide financial assistance to undergraduate or graduate students to complete either a first or further degree over a period not exceeding four years. An applicant will not be awarded a scholarship for a second 1st degree. The Scholarship is tenable at a University outside these Islands in British Commonwealth countries and in the United States of America selected by the candidate and approved by the Trustees. Other RequirementsCompleted signed application form (available from the offices of Appleby or by e-mailing tnusum@applebyglobal.com); A letter from parent/guardian undertaking to accept responsiblity for additional funds over and above the Scholarship allowance necessary to maintain the scholar at an educational institution abroad; A Birth Certificate (candidate must be not less than 18 years of age and not yet 25 by the first day of September in the year of application); Proof of registration as a Bermudian; Evidence of five years schooling in Bermuda (any combination at primary, secondary and/or college level); A Medical Certificate; Copy of latest academic performance/transcript; Copies of historical academic certificates with grades in subjects; Two references in writing relating to applicant's moral character, leadership skills, interest in others, athletic skills and achievements; Photograph of applicant (passport size); An undertaking in writing stating a willingness to return to Bermuda and render services to the community for a time period equal to the period that the Scholarship is awarded; Copy of Notice of Acceptance from approved college or university. No holder of this Scholarship may hold any scholarship, award or bursary from Bermuda sources in excess of $10,000.00 total during the period of this Scholarship. If this should occur, the right to cancel this Scholarship is reserved. |
