The RenaissanceRe Scholarship is awarded annually. Its purpose is to provide financial support to a Bermudian, undergraduate student who is proceeding with full-time studies at an accredited university outside of Bermuda. Eligible candidates must look to pursue a career to enable an ability to work within a business environment. A broad range of educational backgrounds will be considered.  The scholarship is valued at $25,000 per  year for up to four years of study.

    Description

    Open to students with Bermudian status, the Scholarship is valued at $25,000 per year for up to 4 years of study.  A broad range of educational backgrounds will be considered. Eligible candidates must look to pursue a career that will provide the ability to work within a business environment. The Award is based primarily on academic excellence, however, financial need is also a consideration. 

    Other Requirements

    In addition to completing the application form, please attach an application letter giving details of your experiences, explaining why you feel that you are the most suitable candidate for this scholarship.  Please include all of the following in your letter:

    1. Name of Institution that you are currently enrolled in, or are awaiting acceptance for
    2. Volunteer / Community work (Please include what you have gained from these experiences)
    3. Leadership Experiences (Please include what you have gained from these experiences)
    4. Career Aspirations

    Pleae also include at the bottom of your letter with your signature:

    Criteria
    This student will demonstrate excellent academic skills, community involvement and leadership ability. Financial need will also be a consideration. 

    Note: An application will not be processed unless all the prescribed documents are submitted. RenaissanceRe will not follow up with applicants for missing documentation.  Applicants should prepare to come to an interview by the Scholarship Selection Committee in June. Failure to do so will be taken as a withdrawal from the process.


    Conditions of the Scholarship

    1.     The RenaissanceRe Scholarship is awarded annually. Its purpose is to provide financial support to an undergraduate student who is proceeding with full-time studies at an accredited university outside of Bermuda. Eligible candidates must look to pursue a career to enable ability to work within a business environment. A broad range of educational backgrounds will be considered.  The scholarship is tenable for a period of up to four years of study.

    2.     The Scholarship funds are to be used to contribute towards the cost of tuition, books and travel, up to a maximum of $25,000. Payments will be made by RenaissanceRe to the award recipient.3.     The Scholarship award will be determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

     

    4.     The Scholarship Selection Committee will be comprised of members chosen by RenaissanceRe

     5.     The Scholarship winner must maintain a minimum of 3.0 Grade Point Average (American System), or equivalent. 

    6.     The Scholarship committee reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship at any time if the work or conduct of the recipient is unsatisfactory, or the selected applicant becomes involved in any activity which places the prestige of the Scholarship in jeopardy.

    7.     Recipients are required to provide the Selection Committee with official transcripts after each semester. Failure to comply may lead to suspension or forfeiture of the Scholarship.

    8.     The Scholarship Selection Committee may decline to grant the Scholarship should it decide, in its discretion, that there are no suitable candidates.
